Pissouri is a traditional village situated halfway between Paphos and Limassol. It consists of the main village and an area down by the beach at Pissouri Bay.
The village has a lovely square with shops, bars, banks, tavernas, coffee shops and the main village church. Leading off from the square are pedestrianised streets with more shops, bars and a range of restaurants. The dive centre is just a 2 minute walk from the square.
Pissouri is not a big tourist resort and that's why we love it so much. It is far more traditional than say Paphos and feels a lot more Cypriot due to the local population and cuisine. Many people holiday in the Pissouri area yet it never feels totally packed and too busy, there is a nice relaxed meditteranean feel to the place and yet there is so much to do. The village has a range of bars, restaurants and taverna's that will satisfy all tastes. There are Cyprus nights with traditional music and dancing with a variety of other entertainment, or you can just sit somewhere quiet, relax and enjoy your meal or drink. Down in the bay there are more bars and restaurants. On the beach you will find a beautiful bay with the large bowed beach and all the watersports. The beach is mainly sand and when you step into the sea the bottom is sand and has depths for all ages to enjoy.
The watersports available include jet ski's, kayaks, inflatable rides, parascending, water jet rides, boat hire and all hire out the sunbeds that are spread out to give you plenty of private space.
Accommodation in the Pissouri area includes a 5 star hotel, holiday villages, holiday apartments and many private villas, bungalows and apartments. There is a top golf course just 10 minutes away at Aphrodite Hills and accommodation is also available there with Aphrodite Rentals. Many people combine their holiday with playing golf and going diving,
Pissouri is also ideally located to explore the rest of the island and the main attractions. We are just 25 minutes from Paphos and Limassol. The Troodos mountains are only 45 minutes away, as is the Akamas national park. Latchi and Larnaca are both only an hour away. All this means that Pissouri has just about the best location in Cyprus.
So if you are looking for excellent diving and in a place where you can also enjoy the local culture then you will not be disappointed with a trip to Pissouri Village.
