PADI Open Water Diver Course

The Padi Open Water Course is the most popular dive course in the world with hundreds of thousands of certifications. We have been teaching it for 12 years and it has evolved into an excellent entry level diving course. The quality of the course and the final ability of the qualifying open water diver is very much down to how the course is taught, the student and most importantly the Instructor. Our Instructors spend a lot of time teaching the fundamentals of actually how to dive, how to maintain excellent buoyancy and how to be in complete control of their diving.

The Open Water Course mainly comprises of a knowledge development segment, confined water dives and 4 open water dives. Once each has been completed successfully then the student qualifies as a diver up to a maximum depth of 18 metres.

The course normally take 4 days to complete. The theory of diving is covered in the knowledge development session and involves some study, watching a DVD on the same subject matter and completing quizzes and the final exam covering all the theory. This is normally covered on the first day with close support and guidance from the Instructor.

The other 3 days mainly involve practising skills and diving in confined water with an additional 4 open water dives where the students now have to show the Instructor that they have mastered the skills and mastered how to dive.

Once you have completed the open water course you are then a fully qualified diver and should then be looking to gain valuable experience and refine the skills learned by diving on a regular basis. There are many fantastic dives here in Cyprus to do this and here at Cyprus Diving Adventures we provide dive trips to a full range of excellent dive sites.

Once you have completed the Padi open water course you will fully discover the wonders of the underwater world and never look back.
